Terms of use

These are the rules for using the Universe website and game. The purchase itself is made on itch.io, under their terms.

Who I am

The site and the game Universe are a work by Maor Eliezer, an exempt dealer. The content of the site is meant for information and for getting to know the game.

The purchase and itch.io

• The game is sold on itch.io, which is the seller of record in the transaction (the merchant of record): it collects the payment and the taxes, and handles chargebacks and refunds. I am the creator and the owner of the rights in the game, and I give you a licence to play it under these terms.
• The binding price is the price shown on the game's page on itch.io at the moment of purchase. The launch price is a limited-time offer (see "Period of the offer" below). Prices are in US dollars. Taxes, if any apply, are shown on itch.io before the payment.
• The key is personal. Do not share it or publish it.

Details of the offer

• What is sold: a single-player story computer game, in Hebrew and English, for Windows. The game is about 6.5 hours long.
• Time and manner of supply: right after payment, as a digital download from the game's download page on itch.io. The file and your personal key wait for you there. There is no physical shipment.
• Price and payment terms: as shown on itch.io at the moment of purchase, in US dollars. Payment is made on itch.io only.
• Warranty: there is no manufacturer's warranty beyond the rights the law gives a consumer.

Period of the offer: the launch price ($9.90) is valid until November 4, 2026, and after that the regular price of $18 applies. The regular price is not limited in time.

Licence to use the game

• The purchase gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play the game on your computers.
• You may not distribute, share, rent, sell or publish the game file or the key, and you may not take the game apart, extract files from it or get around its protection.
• I may cancel a key that was distributed or shared against these terms, with no refund.
• You may record, stream and publish videos and broadcasts of the game, including monetised ones, as long as you do not present the game as your own. The story of the game is full of surprises, so please say in the video if it has spoilers.

Cancellation and refunds

• Cancelling a transaction and a refund are handled by itch.io, the seller, under its policy and the law that applies to the transaction. Such requests are addressed to it, through itch.io's support.
• If the game does not run on your computer, write to me and I will do my best to solve the problem. If we cannot solve it, or if the purchase was made by mistake or the game is not as described, you can ask itch.io for a refund, and I will support a justified request.
• If the transaction was cancelled and you got a refund, the licence ends: the key will be cancelled, and you must stop using the game and delete it.
• Your rights as a consumer under the law are not affected by these terms.

Copyright

All the content of the site and the game, including the texts, characters, illustrations, music, logo and screenshots, is mine, unless stated otherwise. It may not be copied, distributed or sold without permission in advance and in writing, except as these terms say.

The press kit is meant for anyone who writes about the game, films it or publishes content about it: the logos and screenshots in it may be used for that purpose.

Names and licences of others

Names of games, companies and services mentioned on the site, such as Undertale, Deltarune, Godot, itch.io, Kit and YouTube, belong to their owners. They are mentioned to tell about the inspiration and the tools. Universe is an independent game, and it has no connection to their owners or sponsorship by them.

The fonts Handjet and GNU Unifont are distributed under the SIL OFL licence (Handjet licence, Unifont licence), and the Godot engine under the MIT licence.

Liability

The site and its content are presented as they are. I try to keep the information accurate and up to date, but, to the extent the law allows, I am not responsible for errors, interruptions of service or the content of other sites that this site links to. Nothing here affects rights that cannot be waived under the law.

There is no commitment to updates or support beyond what the law requires. To the extent the law allows, my total liability to you for the game will not exceed the price you paid for it.

Governing law and jurisdiction

Israeli law applies to the use of the site and the game, and the courts of Israel have jurisdiction, without limiting consumer rights that cannot be waived under the law of the place where you live.
