Accessibility statement
I want everyone to be able to get to know Universe and use its website, with any ability and on any device. The site was built to follow, as far as possible, the Israeli standard SI 5568 at level AA.
Last updated: October 7, 2026
The status of the site
I am an exempt dealer (osek patur), and the site is run by me alone. Under regulation 35ו(ז) of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Accommodations) Regulations, 5773-2013, an exempt dealer is exempt from carrying out accessibility accommodations on a website. Even so, I chose to make the site as accessible as I can, and to publish this statement.
This status is correct as of the date of update at the top of the page. If the status of the business changes, I will update the statement.
What was done to make the site accessible
- Full keyboard navigation, with a clear mark on the current element and a "skip to the content" link at the top of every page.
- A clear heading structure, with one main heading on every page.
- Alternative text for every meaningful image, and a description of every screenshot.
- Sufficient colour contrast between text and background.
- Hebrew and English on separate, complete pages, each with its own writing direction and language.
- The view can be enlarged in the browser, and the pages reflow without horizontal scrolling. The site is also adapted to small screens.
- The site respects the "reduce motion" setting of the operating system. There is also a "pause motion" button at the top of every page, which stops the stars in the background, the animations and the automatic change of pictures.
- Buttons and links sized for touch, and labels on fields.
- No sound plays by itself. The music player starts only when you press it.
What was checked
The site was checked with two automatic tools (Google's Lighthouse and axe), and with an automatic test of keyboard navigation: that every control has a name, can be reached with the keyboard and is marked when focused. It was not tested with a screen reader or on every device, so there may be problems I did not find.
What is not yet fully accessible
- The itch.io purchase card and the newsletter page on Kit are outside services. They are not in my control, and their accessibility is in the hands of the companies that run them. Each of them is also available as a plain link to their site.
- The pixel font of the site (Handjet) is part of the game's design, and it is harder to read for some people. The text can be enlarged in the browser.
- The Narrator's Notebook on the site (tying cards with red thread) also works with the keyboard, but using it with a screen reader has not been tested yet.
- The game itself, which is not part of the website, does not claim to be accessible for every kind of disability. If something in it is hard for you, write to me.
