Privacy policy

The Universe website hardly collects any information. This page says exactly what it does collect, why, and who receives it.

Who is responsible for the information

The information mentioned here is held by Maor Eliezer, an exempt dealer ("I"), who controls it. I am alone in the business and have no employees.

What the site itself collects

• There are no user accounts, no analytics tools, and no ads or tracking.
• The site does not set cookies. It saves a few preferences in your browser, on your own device only: the language, the volume of the player, and whether motion is paused. They are not sent to me or to anyone else.
• The fonts and pictures are loaded from the site itself, not from third-party services.
• The server that hosts the site may keep technical access logs (such as the IP address and the time of the visit), as any site does, for security and operation.

The game itself

This policy is about the website. The game itself does not collect or send information about you. Its save files and settings stay on your computer.

Writing to me

If you write to me, I will receive your email address and the content of your message, and I will use them to reply. I will keep them for as long as needed to handle the matter, and I will not pass them on. You are not obliged to write to me.

Signing up for the newsletter

• Signing up is your own choice and requires your consent. You are not obliged to give the address. If you do not give it, you simply will not receive the newsletter, and there is no other consequence.
• What is collected: the email address, a name if you choose to add one, and a technical record of the signing up (such as the time and the source) that the service keeps as proof of consent.
• Purpose: to send you updates about Universe, the Mac version and my next games. Every such mailing is advertising, and is marked as such.
• Who receives it: only the service Kit, an American company that runs the mailing for me. I do not sell, rent or pass the list on to anyone else.
• The information is also processed outside Israel, including in the United States, under Kit's privacy policy.
• Keeping: until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and it takes effect at once. Kit may keep a minimal record of the removal so that nothing is sent to you again.
• The newsletter is meant for people aged 16 and over. Anyone younger is asked to sign up only with a parent's consent.

Buying the game

The purchase is made on itch.io, under its terms of use and privacy policy, and it is the party that handles the payment and identification. I have no access to your credit card details. itch.io may give me purchase details (such as a user name, an email address and a country), and I will use them only to handle the purchase, a refund and support.

Content from other sites

• The itch.io purchase card loads only after you press "Show the card". When it loads, your browser connects to itch.io, which may receive technical information about you (such as your IP address) and use cookies under its own policy. Until you press, nothing is sent to it.
• Links to YouTube, itch.io and Kit lead to other sites, and their own policies apply there.

Your rights

You may ask to see the information kept about you, to correct it or delete it, and to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any moment, under sections 13 and 14 of the Privacy Protection Law. If you are in the European Union you also have rights under the GDPR, including the right to object and to ask for your data to be transferred. Write to me and I will answer within 30 days. You can also file a complaint with the Privacy Protection Authority in Israel, or with the supervisory authority in your country.

Security

The site is static and has no database of its own. Signing up for the newsletter is done on Kit's page and not on this site, and the list is kept there, by a service that runs its own security measures. I take reasonable steps to protect the information I hold, but no system is completely safe.

Changes

If something important changes, I will update this page and change the date.
